Planning a window film project for your home is easy following these steps:

• Decide which room(s) will start your project.

Many people start with the primary living areas - kitchen, dining room, bedrooms - where they need improved comfort immediately. Others start with the "hottest" rooms - those facing south, southwest, and west - to reduce the heat gain and keep those rooms cooler. Some may need to reduce glare in a TV or computer room or have privacy issues they need solved. Of course, window film is a perfect addition to any room being remodeled or redecorated, especially to protect new flooring, wallpaper, furnishings, and window treatments.

• Determine the amount of film that you will need.

Measure the windows of the room(s) that you are going to apply window film to determine how much film you will need.

Measure the inside exposed-glass dimensions of each window pane. See the chart below to determine your needs:

Helpful Hints

• If possible, plan to apply the film in the evening or morning, when the glass is cooler and not facing the sun. The warmer the glass, the faster the film adheres.
• Be sure you have everything you need to properly apply the film (see the list on each fim carton.)
• Buy up to 15% more film than you think you need. Even professionals know that having a little bit more on hand, in case of a mistake, can save a second trip to the store
